I won't lie to you, man.. there are. [ Maybe not immediately, but there's already been so much weird stuff happening here over the months that Shinpachi doesn't really want to say "nope, there aren't" and not have Larry prepared in case something does happen. ]
And not just that. Let's just say generally stuff that puts you in danger or downright threatens your life. No matter what this place seems like.. you gotta stay on your guard.
[Yep, Larry's definitely sure he doesn't like the sound of this. He remains quiet while Shinpachi explains the situation, though he shows he's listening by nodding vigorously and anxiously.
Truth is, a lot is running through his mind now. From the whirlwind that was the apocalyptic event, to the whole CERES powerpoint presentation, the killer Santas, and now the revelation that there's the possibility of danger around the corner at all times...it's getting pretty tough to imagine a stable life here.
But he decides he's going to try to stay positive about it. He's faced plenty of scary situations in his life, and he turned out okay! So what's the use of living in fear? There's gotta be some good parts about this place too, to outweigh the killer robots and other stuff.
So when Shinpachi finishes, this time Larry's nod is serious.]
Yeah. I'll be on the lookout now, for sure!
[...okay, it takes a lot of effort to actually be serious so he's just going to drop that and awkwardly rub at his choppy hair spikes again.]
Thanks for the head's up, and y'know, being cool with me tagging along.
I would've never thought that 'cause my exes always used to compliment my hair how it is, so I've stuck with it. Plus I like how it points up and makes me look optimistic!
[...god, there he goes. Maybe it is best to change the subject to housing.]
Yeah, I think those CERES guys said something about it in their presentation. I just gotta find where all these apartments are.
But he does want to take her up on that offer, having just arrived. He just has to think of what he even wants to ask. Maybe start with something basic?]
Well...what's it like? Am I gonna like it here if I'm gonna be stuck here a while?
[Larry does his best to follow and understand what Kousetsu's saying. He's able to wrap his head about the period Kousetsu is from...sort of...but he keeps coming back to one part that he just doesn't get.]
Uh...yeeeeah, I uh. I got no idea what you're talking about. What's the blade part supposed to be a metaphor for? You can't be an actual sword. You're a dude!
...it is not a metaphor. [ He shakes his head. Thank god he has the patience of a saint. ]
But you are mistaken. I am a blade given human form by my former master. They were able to do so with their powers, that is all I know, however. You would need to ask the Sainwa more in depth on the matter. But they...are not here currently.
[Larry's got a bad habit of being oblivious about things he really shouldn't be oblivious about, and that certainly applies here. The guy said he's okay, so...he's gotta be okay, right? Larry can't really tell anything's off, at least.]
Well that's good to hear! Sorry to hear about the minor casualties though.
[Even if Koujaku only lost a little hair, it still clearly needs to be mourned in some way.
In response to Koujaku's question, Larry sets his snowcone down and manually checks himself for any possible cuts in his clothes.]
I don't think so...they didn't get my clothes, and I don't feel any pain anywhere. I guess I got lucky too, all things considered!
Good. [ Because at this rate Koujaku’s dragging the entire carnival to the hospital for all the near-misses he’s gone through so far. He runs a hand through his own hair—less to check for the damages he already knows is there, and more to just…calm himself down a little.
Everything will be all right. And maybe Larry’s fairly upbeat attitude’s making Koujaku feel a smidge better as well. The Butz may smell but that may not entirely be a bad thing. ]
Ha. [ It would feel so good to just laugh it all away right now. ]
That was some crazy shit back there, huh? It was pretty unbelievable. [ More like he doesn’t want to believe it outright, but you know. ]
[He can either lighten the mood or drag it down, it all depends! Right now, the former feels more appropriate for him, especially now that Koujaku seems to have lightened up himself.]
Yeeeah. I uh, just got here, and when I found out this place was high tech I was really excited about it. I mean, the place looks so futuristic it's like it's straight out of a sci-fi novel!
[Just saying it gets him pumped again, but it quickly leads to a sigh as he finishes up his snowcone.]
So lemme tell you, killer Santas was not what I expected or wanted. I hope this place isn't all...that.
Yang
[Oh good, she gets it! He was a little concerned for a second...]
Yeah! Those ones! They didn't get you bad, did they?
[He's looking, but he doesn't see any damage on her...her hair looks in tact too. Lucky...]
no subject
Nah, I'm used to fighting. It was almost kind of fun.
no subject
[He looks pretty surprised to hear that, actually.]
So you do this fighting thing a lot?

Nah, I just meant this circus thing. I dunno where I'd even start trying to figuring out how to un-code myself.
[If that's even possible...he's not super great with tech on a level this high.]
Okay, so trains. I can do trains. I'm from a pretty huge city, so this isn't anything new.
no subject
Well, that's good. Do you need a map?
no subject
A map would be good, yeah. I don't wanna get lost on my first day! Do they have any at the train station?

[More danger? Larry's not sure he likes the sound of that...at least the prospect of a huge city feels a little at-home for him]
Y-Yeah, that'd be great, actually! I'm kinda used to big cities but you've got a good point. I didn't think about asking for a guide!
[He probably wouldn't have picked a big intimidating guy for his guide, but maybe it's a good idea if it's dangerous...]
So whaddya mean it's dangerous? There aren't more killer robots out there, are there...?
no subject
And not just that. Let's just say generally stuff that puts you in danger or downright threatens your life. No matter what this place seems like.. you gotta stay on your guard.
[ He glances back at the other. ]
Got that?

[...probably poorly timed. Larry looks a little taken aback about it, because the gravity of the situation hasn't fully sunk in yet.]
Yeah... I guess you got a point. There's nothing anyone can do, huh?
no subject
C'mon now, I wouldn't be that pessimistic about it. We're here to try'n bring back what was destroyed, right?
[or so he was told during that powerpoint presentation]
no subject
Larry has to rack his brain to try to remember that part of the presentation. It's a slow process, but it looks like things finally start to click.]

No way am I doing a wig! Especially a long one! It's this hairstyle or a hat, no buts!
[He almost looks offended that Nice would suggest such a thing!]
And yeah, I can make a hat work. I just gotta wash the gel outta my hair. Whenever...I find my place, I guess.
no subject
[He's just acting on a guess that he'd be interested in that sort of thing...]
It's not like that's hard, at least. Finding a place.

[He's interested! He just looks hella skeptical.]

YEEEEEOWCH!!
[Larry nearly jumps out of his skin in surprise (and pain). Girls are usually so gentle, so he wasn't expecting that at all!
He quickly backs away, tenderly rubbing his elbow.]
Jeez! You didn't need to do it that hard! Ow, ow, ow...!
B-But I guess this is definitely reality.
