[Larry woke up to a nasty surprise this morning. A very nasty surprise.

Barney was gone. All that remained was Ted the Totodile sitting at the end of Larry's bed.

Larry and Barney had been good friends for over two years now. They had spent just about every day together, traveling and broing out. Barney's sudden disappearance left behind a gaping hole in Larry's life, and he didn't know how to deal with it.

The crippling depression that followed caused him to be absolutely destroyed in the tournament later on in the day. Despite previously being so pumped to win, he couldn't get his mind off of his best friend's disappearance. His heart was not in the game at all, and now he's out of the tournament because of it.

After suffering through the denial and putting it off for hours, eventually he brings himself to announce Barney's disappearance to the network.

He's got Ted with him for support, although he still looks like he could start crying at any moment. His voice comes out forced, like he really doesn't want to say any of this.]

For those who knew him...Barney Stinson has gone home. I've got Ted, but if anyone has any of his other Pokemon...take good card of 'em, okay?

[He pauses for a good few moments, tears starting to well in his eyes. Oh no. No Larry, don't--]

He was my first friend here. He was my best friend. I...I don't even know what to do with myself noooooooowwwwwaaaaaahhh--

[Aaand here comes the waterworks. How awkward. Even Ted's a little uncomfortable by this development. Being the tech-savvy Totodile he is, he quickly reaches over to shut the 'Gear off. You've said all you needed to, Larry.]

[February 19, early afternoon]

[Larry made a very unfortunate discovery this afternoon when he felt like checking in on what Miles was up to. He was greeted with that error message that no one wanted to hear coming from their friend's line.

Miles was gone.

No. He didn't want this day to come. This wasn't fair. Panicked, he tried to contact Clover to see if Miles had broken his 'Gear or something, despite knowing the difference of error messages quite well. He wasn't about to accept Miles' disappearance so easily. But that ever familiar message came from Clover's line as well.

Clover was gone too.

Now, he wasn't very familiar with Miles and Clover's other friend. Ken, right? But he figured Ken was his final chance. He would know what's up. Maybe something weird was going on at the house, and their 'Gears were acting odd. He was kidding himself. However, he got the same error message as the two before.

They were all gone. That entire house, in one fell swoop. Johto really knew how to bring a guy down just when he was feeling pretty damn happy again.

Shortly after, a shoddily written text appears on the network.]

edgey clover and ken are gone. figured i'd let you guys know. edgey is miles btw.

[February 19, late evening]

[Today was supposed to be a free day to wander around Cianwood, but Larry's friends have likely noticed that he hasn't left his inn room at all. Any questions about it resulted in Larry saying he was fine and he was busy with something, but now that it's late in the evening, it's very obvious that something is wrong.

The poor sap needs some help, guys.]

[When the feed starts up, nothing can be seen. However, the melancholy tune of the Burned Tower can be heard, as well as coughing from whoever the 'Gear owner is. Finally, Larry aims the 'Gear properly at himself. It's pretty dark in there.]

Wh-What the heck?! How did I get in the Burned Tower...? I was in Goldenrod when I to bed!

[He shivers, looking around.]

And I'm pretty sure I'd put a freakin' coat on before coming here.

Wooobbuffet...

[says Larry's starter, the only Pokemon that seems to be with him right now. He sounds just as distressed as Larry does.

Larry appears to be taking a few steps before looking off toward Wobbuffet.]

Oh, hey Wobbuffet! At least I'm alone in this, h--WAAAAUGH!

W-Wobba!!

[And looking away while walking was his mistake, because he just walked off the ledge in the middle of the floor and fell to the basement level of the tower. The feed cuts out shortly after he hits the ground.]

About 20 Minutes Later:

[The feed roughly comes to life on Larry's end, and now he's outside of the tower. He looks as white as a ghost. That fall scared the hell out of him. He couldn't care less about the pain in his back right now. At least his 'Gear survived the fall.]

I didn't think I'd see my life flash before my eyes in Johto of all places. [a shudder] Remind me to never go inside that tower again.

Wobba...

So uh...anyone else having weird stuff happening to them?

[It's a lovely evening in the middle of Route 39.

At least, from what it looks close to the ground. One of Larry's Pokemon has managed to nudge the 'Gear on and is swinging it around to get it focused on its target. Said target is a pair of [livejournal.com profile] itsthebutz [livejournal.com profile] usedsuitup, comfortably propped up against a bale of hay.

What started as a little nap to let Steelix rest from a rough ride on the flatland turned into Larry and Barney being impossible to wake up. So their Pokemon have formulated a wonderful plan that will with out a doubt get them up. Naturally this has to be recorded too.

In the left corner of the screen, a Growlithe comes into view. She doesn't look too thrilled to be involved in this stupidity, but even she likes to play pranks on her owner sometimes.]

Doof! Bidoof! [Comes from the Pokemon from behind the 'Gear. It's the signal to go for it!

The Growlithe nods, takes a deep breath, and...]

GRRRROOOOOOWLITHE!

[A sneak Roar attack. Of course.

The sudden loud noise right next to them sends the two flying out of their spots and shouting, resulting into them colliding into each other. An eruption of laughter from the surrounding Pokemon breaks out. The looks of horror on their faces was good enough, but the collision was golden.

Rubbing his head and still looking rather bewildered, Larry shoots a glare at the Pokemon, especially the one behind the 'Gear.]

Very funny, you guys. Veeeeeeery funny.

[Barney looks even less than amused at the whole ordeal.]

That's the last time you teach your Pokemon how to prank people. They're not supposed to turn on us!

But it was funny at the time...!

[In the midst of their arguing with each other and their still-laughing Pokemon, the Bidoof behind the 'Gear finally shuts it off. They've got plenty of footage for cheap laughs later now.]

[[OOC: Responses may come from both Larry and Barney.]]

[After having his little moment, Larry picks up the 'Gear and, ignoring the network, types out a post since he really doesn't want anyone to see him in this state. That's usually saved for Phoenix who...isn't here.]

Iris is gone now too. They're...both really gone.

Just an FYI, I'm gonna challenge Bugsy tomorrow and get up to Goldenrod ASAP. I need to get back to some actual civilization.

[As he shuts off the 'Gear, he thinks to himself, "Edgey, don't you disappear too."]
