031 [text/action for Larry's travel group]

[February 19, early afternoon]

[Larry made a very unfortunate discovery this afternoon when he felt like checking in on what Miles was up to. He was greeted with that error message that no one wanted to hear coming from their friend's line.

Miles was gone.

No. He didn't want this day to come. This wasn't fair. Panicked, he tried to contact Clover to see if Miles had broken his 'Gear or something, despite knowing the difference of error messages quite well. He wasn't about to accept Miles' disappearance so easily. But that ever familiar message came from Clover's line as well.

Clover was gone too.

Now, he wasn't very familiar with Miles and Clover's other friend. Ken, right? But he figured Ken was his final chance. He would know what's up. Maybe something weird was going on at the house, and their 'Gears were acting odd. He was kidding himself. However, he got the same error message as the two before.

They were all gone. That entire house, in one fell swoop. Johto really knew how to bring a guy down just when he was feeling pretty damn happy again.

Shortly after, a shoddily written text appears on the network.]

edgey clover and ken are gone. figured i'd let you guys know. edgey is miles btw.

[February 19, late evening]

[Today was supposed to be a free day to wander around Cianwood, but Larry's friends have likely noticed that he hasn't left his inn room at all. Any questions about it resulted in Larry saying he was fine and he was busy with something, but now that it's late in the evening, it's very obvious that something is wrong.

The poor sap needs some help, guys.]

[ She didn't even bought that thing of him being fine, so that's why she will enter right away in that room even if the door is damn locked. ]

[Larry did lock the door, but he's not surprised that Ur would break in anyway.

The entire room is dark; Larry didn't bother turning on any lights. There's a lump under the covers of his bed. Larry's under there, holding his Valentine's Day egg close. Aside from the slight jump from Ur's sudden entrance, he doesn't really react.]

[ Ur says nothing and closes the door behind her. Then, she moves to sit in the edge of the bed, close to him. ]

Larry.

[There's a bit of shifting under the covers, but he stays under there. He's just changed positions so he's facing Ur now. After a long pause, he finally says something.]

Yeah?

[His voice is a little hoarse, like he's been shouting. Or crying.]

[ She looks at him calmly, just as always. ]

Life here is really hard sometimes. When you seem to find happiness in something, Johto then takes away something you hold dear in your heart.

[ Ur looks away for a moment. ]

I lost part of my family here recently as well.

[Larry doesn't say much to the first part. He understands that all too well. The last major loss he went through was last April, so he had sort of forgotten how it felt, but today just brought it all crashing back down on him. He literally felt ill over it. He recalled how he felt back then and how desperate he acted toward Miles after it. He couldn't stand the thought of his other best friend leaving, but now that day had come. He just wasn't sure what to do, so he just laid there all day.

But that last part stirs a real reaction out of him. He sets the egg to his side and uncovers himself, then sits up. He's hunched over, but he has his eyes on Ur.]

You did?

[ She rests one of her hands in his shoulder now that he sits up. ]

Kisa and Ritsu are gone. I'm truly glad that we could spent all those happy moments together as I will always treasure them. And while I couldn't even say goodbye to them properly, I hope that their future is always a bright one and they could overcome all the bad things they went through their lives.

And maybe someday, we will meet again. So it's more like... a 'See you soon'.

[ She gives him a small smile. ]

Right, Larry?

[Yes...there is no doubt that he'll see Miles again someday. It makes him wonder what will happen to their future if Miles retains all of his memories of his time in Johto. What will he be like in Larry's time now?

Well, Ur has a point. No matter what, his friends, Miles and Clover, will overcome the hard times to come. Still, he isn't sure if he can overcome this hard time of his own so quickly...

He slowly shakes his head and places his hand on hers.]

Your strength amazes me, Ur. [Worryingly so.] Don't you ever...don't you ever wanna really let it out sometimes? I mean, who knows how long it'll be? Nick and Iris, they...it's been almost a year already. I thought I'd see 'em soon, but... [A year isn't really "soon" to him.]

[ Perhaps that one of her strengths here in this place. She already had gone through many sad things here and in her world... So maybe that's why she can stand strong here for others. ]

I know that the strong bonds we had are still in my heart, and even if I will miss them a lot, I know I can wait all the time it takes to see them again once more.

My student, Gray, he was in this world once. He looked older than the last time I saw him. I never thought I would see him again, yet I this place brought him here. [ Such fond memories. ] Waiting is really hard, but you are not alone here. Nobody wants to make their friends feel bad for their disappearance, so what you can try to do for their sake is to overcome this pain and try to be happy.

So when they come back, you can share all those happy memories with them.

[Larry listens intently as Ur tells her story. He hadn't really thought of it that way. Ur was able to see someone again in Johto that she may have never seen again in here own world. And she's right, too. It's not like they could help that it was their time to leave...but he isn't really mad at them for it. Still, would they really want their friends to be moping around because of them? No.

After she finishes talking, he shifts again so he's sitting next to her, and gently leans against her. She's really like a pillar of strength to him. He briefly remains silent, coming up with a response to everything she just said.]

'm sorry.

[Yes. That's a good place to start.]

[ She wraps one of her arms around him. She understands that it's hard to overcome this kind of pain, but such as when he was there for her when she got Ultear's clothes, she wanted to let him know that she was there for him as well.

Ur smiles a bit at that. ]

It's fine. Don't worry for that.

[Thinking it over, he feels bad for being kind of dramatic about this. These reactions were the easiest ones to back on in such situations. He figures it's something that will never change, but at least he'll always have someone to talk it out with.

He rests his head on her shoulder.]

Thanks for being here, Ur.

[ Well, seeing him a bit better is a relief for her. It's fine, because she knows she will be there again if something like this happens again. She really hopes it won't, of course.

Here, she rests a hand in his head, messing with his hair a bit. ]

Anytime, Larry.

[Normally he'd get a little antsy at his hairdo getting messed with, but it's not like he's styled it much today. So instead he smiles at Ur.]

So...what did you do today? It was our free day and stuff.

[ Besides, she would just do it again. ]

Hn, I trained the new pokemons I had a bit.

[ bit = ENDLESS TRAINING. ]

[With all that's been going on lately, he had already kinda forgotten about their little Safari Zone trip.]

Oh yeah! I gotta get on that too. You planning on challenging the gym soon?

Yeah, I'm confident with my team, but I wanted to train the young ones.

Makes sense to me. They've kinda come in late in the game, huh?

I don't mind. My team was almost at the maximum level, so it gives me something to do.

[He barges through the door]

Larry, c'mon we're getting a drink. I managed to find a small pub. It's kinda on the fishy side but it'll do.

Granted there was this old grizzly sailor given me a stink eye.

[Larry peers from under the covers of his bed, squinting at the bright light from the doorway. He's been lying in darkness all day. With a groan, he quickly covers himself up.]

Barneyyyyyy, I don't wanna go anywhere... I just wanna lay in here 'til I die.

No you don't.

I mean. I can understand the wanting to lie around and do nothing part, but you don't want to die.

Honestly bro, you don't.

How do you know?

[Larry sounds angry for some reason. He's being a little irrational right now.]

Maybe I do. One of my best friends from home and another friend just disappeared! Edgey...I keep wondering what's going to happen when he goes home. How much is gonna change...

[The lump under the covers shifts again. He's obviously pained just thinking about this stuff.] He dealt with so much by even being here. Me being fifteen years old than him...and yet he still treated the same as always. I-I...

[He falls silent. He doesn't even know where's trying to go with this.]

[Geez you people let him be a ray of sunshine]

Larry, bro, fun fact about that. If you die, you are not helping anyone. Least of all Edgey. Or your other friend. Both of whom probably wouldn't want you to die because they left.

[Barney moves to sitting on the bed across from Larry.]

I guess it proves he was a good guy.

[A hollow laugh comes from under the blankets.]

That's true... S'not like I can die here anyway.

[He falls silent again for a moment.]

He was a good guy.

Don't forget that. He probably still is a good guy.

And now I just gotta check, but you are wearing pants right now, right?

[Because for some reason, pants are a good way of gauging a person's mental state.]

[Barney's right again. He still is.

That question actually gets a genuine laugh out of Larry. Barney can cheer him up just by being Barney.]

I've got my boxers on. Does that count?

[He hasn't gotten dressed yet okay.]

Not really.

How long's he been gone for?

[This situation calls for a little re-evaluation]

Oh...

[He thinks it is.]

Like...a day? I don't know, really. I just saw him last week though.

Okay. You get one day of having no pants on. I'll be right back.

[If he can't get Larry to the bar, he'll bring the bar to Larry. Or something. Some form of alcohol anyway.]

Um, okay?

[His words are a little late, since Barney was already out the door, but... He can't help but smile. He has a feeling he knows what Barney's up to, and he's definitely not going to oppose it.]

I'm back!

[With a case of beer]

Man, the people here are so easy to fool.

[When Barney returns, the lights in Larry's room are now on, and Larry himself is up and about.

And he actually put some pants on.

He smiles as Barney walks in. It's a tired smile, but a smile nevertheless.]

Whadya mean? You didn't steal that, did you?

[Barney is actually pretty proud of Larry at this moment. Because he's up and about and has pants on. It's not something he expected (since he figures once something bad happens one is allowed at least one day of wallowing) but he's glad all the same.]

No, of course not. They just didn't really want me to bring it into the hotel, but I talked my way around it.

[Larry plops back on the bed, still as curious as before.]

Oh yeah? What'd you say?

Told 'em it was actually fruit juice. They just ran out of boxes at store so they had to use whatever they could find. I managed to fiddle with the labels to.

[He listens to Barney's explanation thoughtfully.]

You went all that way just to sneak some booze in?

[A slight pause, then Larry holds a hand up.]

High five, man!

[The high five is returned with gusto]

Hey, I take of my bros.

[Now that Barney's a bit closer, Larry helps himself to a bottle out of the case.]

"Fruit juice" has never been so appreciated.

You. Are welcome.

[And he'll take a bottle himself.]

Mr. Laurice...? [ Pearl opened the door to the room just a smidgen, looking in with a rather worried expression. ]

...Is everything all right? Are you sick? Do you need me to get some medicine? [ She has yet to find out that Mr. Edgeworth has left, along with Clover. She never met Ken nor does she know who he is- then again, she never met Edgeworth here, either. But at least she knew him from somewhere?

She just stood there now- but you might see her Pokemon, primarily Abra and Spoink leaning in from behind her to get a peek into the room. Ralts was trying to stay away, as the vibes currently weren't all good, and ~~Mr.~~ Ms. Sun was catering to two eggs elsewhere. Those there waited for an answer. ]

[Pearl will find Larry sitting on his bed with a green egg on his lap. He looks like he's been sitting there in the dark, brooding about something for a long time. He glances over to the doorway, and squints when the light hits his eyes. He was pretty adjusted to the dark.

He doesn't really want to worry little Pearl, so he beckons her over.]

Yeah, everything's all right Pearl. [His voice is a little hoarse.] I'm not sick, just kinda sad. I found out some stuff today that I didn't wanna find out.

[ Pearl nervously and cautiously walked over, only allowing her Abra to come in with her. Bouncer had to stay outside, so he left to play with the others. He didn't mind, though.

She sits on the bed and places Abra in her lap. The Pokémon absentmindedly pokes the green egg in Larry's lap. ]

Are you sure...? You're throat sounds kind of sore...

...What did you find out? [ Pearl looks up to him, face filled to the brim with worry. ]
]

Oh, uh...'m good, really.

[Yeah, he's pretty transparent at this point. But he will answer Pearl's question. He glances back down to the egg.]

Edgey's gone. One of my other friends disappeared too.

[He pauses again, then looks at Pearl. His expression is almost blank, but there's a hint of utter desperation mixed in there.]

It kinda hit me hard.
