[Larry intends to make this post short and sweet, so there's no fancy angles or openings or anything like that. It's just him in one of the Training Center's rooms.]

Hey, I got a question for you guys. You all know about golden birthdays, right? Well today's mine—man, I'm gettin' so old—and I have no idea what to do for it. I had a whole bunch of plans for it back home, but I can't do any of them now since I'm not there, y'know? I guess I shoulda made new plans but I wasn't expecting to spend three birthdays here. And I don't really have anyone in town to celebrate it with either, so that's a double whammy.

[He sighs and rubs the back of his head with his free hand. Man, this is the worst golden birthday ever.]

So yeah, any suggestions? If no one's got anything I guess I could grab a drink and try to get a new high score in that Rapidash Attack game.

[... Wow, that sounded really sad.]

It means I'm turning the same number as my birthday. It's a pretty big deal where I come from.

You're turning twenty-eight, then. That's a good age.

[A beat.]

...Drinks are always a good way to celebrate, even if they do not quite compensate for missing friends.

It just means I'm another year closer to the big three-oh. I don't know if I'm ready to actually be a serious adult yet!

[What his idea of a serious adult is, we just don't know.]

But yeah, I was thinkin' of heading to the bar for a plan B. Or maybe I can hang out with my Pokemon for the night.

...Most people are considered serious adults much earlier than that...

I'd not go with that second option. That's what I did last week, and they took that as encouragement to try and bake a birthday cake by themselves.

Whaaaat?! But they have their whole lives ahead of them to settle down! May as well have fun when you're young and spry!

[Look at all the significant things Larry has done in his life. Totally worth it.]

Oh dude, it was your birthday last week? Happy belated Birthday! How'd the cake turn out?

I've had plenty of fun even after settling down, I assure you. Besides, it's easier to keep up with active children when you have plenty of youthful energy.

[Between his son and his goddaughter, he knows all about that.]

Messy, burned and inedible. It turns out that trying to bake without opposable thumbs and a recipe is not the best idea. But they tried.

[Larry's face pales at the mention of kids.]

Man, I don't think I'd be ready for kids at any age.

[But he cheers up again and laughs at the cake story.]

And it's the thought that counts, right?

You never know. You might someday surprise yourself.

[...Or not. Some people never do.]

It is. I did try to take a bite out of it, but they were not too insulted when I spit it out. So it counts on both sides.

Let's just hope it's not all a total surprise. That's the last thing I need.

...Well, yes. That could lead to quite a few unpleasant problems or situations.
