I trick-or-treated a few times, but for the most part, I stayed home and helped Dad hand out candy.

[Nowadays, she didn't do jack for Halloween-- or at least she hadn't in the Halloween that had happened after... well, after that fateful summer night. It had been too soon. So she'd just turned the lights out and pretended nobody was home, like a crotchety old man. Maybe next year she'd try to have fun again. Dress up and decorate and have a goofy little shtick ready for when kids came to the door. That'd be nice. She missed doing that.]
